Turkish Airlines European Multi-City Flights

Turkish Airlines is one of the best airlines for building a European trip that goes well beyond a simple return airfare. With Istanbul as its hub and an enormous network stretching across Europe, Türkiye and beyond, we can combine multiple European cities, stopovers and open-jaw routings into one cleverly constructed itinerary.

The possibilities are enormous. Fly into London and home from Rome, add an Istanbul stopover, combine major cities with harder-to-reach destinations, or use different European gateways in each direction. Turkish Airlines serves more countries than any other airline, giving us an exceptional network to work with when building your trip.

Add Turkish Airlines’ excellent Business Class, renowned onboard dining and a fantastic range of partner airlines from Australia, and these fares become one of our favourite ways to create great-value European multi-city journeys with far more flexibility than a standard return ticket.

Partner Airlines and Prime Flights

Turkish Airlines & Partner Options from Australia

Turkish Airlines operates its own services from Sydney and Melbourne through to Istanbul (Prime Flights). Melbourne services operate via Singapore, while Sydney currently operates via Kuala Lumpur before switching to Singapore from late October 2026. From Istanbul, Turkish Airlines’ enormous network opens up connections across Europe and beyond.

The fares also allow us to use a wide selection of partner airlines between Australia and Asia, creating more choice around departure cities, stopovers, schedules and availability.

  • Qantas – Singapore, Bangkok, Jakarta, Bali, Hong Kong, Manila & Tokyo
  • Malaysia Airlines – Kuala Lumpur
  • Thai Airways – Bangkok
  • Cathay Pacific – Hong Kong
  • ANA – Tokyo
  • Singapore Airlines – Singapore
  • Garuda Indonesia – Jakarta & Bali
  • Jetstar – Phuket, Singapore & Bali
  • Batik Air – Kuala Lumpur, Bali & Jakarta

This flexibility means we can choose Turkish Airlines’ own Australian services or build the fare around the Asian gateway and partner airline that works best for your trip.

Stopover cities

Asia Stopovers

Turkish Airlines fares open up an impressive range of Asian stopovers, including Bangkok, Singapore, Jakarta, Bali, Kuala Lumpur, Phuket, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Ho Chi Minh City, Delhi, Taipei and Manila. Depending on the fare and partner airline, we can often use different Asian gateways in each direction, adding another destination to your European journey.

Istanbul Stopover Program – Free Hotel Accommodation

Istanbul can also become part of the holiday. Eligible Turkish Airlines fares from Australia can include complimentary accommodation during an extended Istanbul stopover.

Economy Class passengers can receive one complimentary night in a 4-star hotel, while Business Class passengers can receive two nights in a 5-star or boutique hotel.

Eligibility depends on the ticket, flights and stopover length, so ask your Airfare Geeks consultant and we can check the available options when building your itinerary.

Turkish Airlines Business Class

Turkish Airlines consistently ranks among the world’s strongest Business Class airlines, combining an excellent onboard product with its enormous global network and renowned Turkish hospitality.

Business Class does vary by aircraft. The Boeing 787-9 and Airbus A350-900 feature Turkish Airlines’ newer 1-2-1 seating with direct aisle access and fully flat beds, while other long-haul aircraft have different configurations. The A350 is one of our preferred options, offering excellent privacy, storage and personal space. Across the fleet, a major highlight is the onboard dining, with Turkish Airlines particularly well known for its Flying Chefs, Turkish cuisine and extensive meal service.

The flagship Turkish Airlines Business Lounge in Istanbul is another highlight. The enormous lounge features live cooking stations and regional Turkish dishes, private shower suites, sleeping areas, entertainment spaces and plenty of room to relax during a longer connection. For eligible passengers, it makes an Istanbul transit or stopover considerably more enjoyable.

In the vast majority of cases, the most cost-effective way to travel around the world is to continue in the one direction, either East or West, the whole way. So you might travel from Australia to North America to Europe to Asia and back to Australia. Or Australia to South America to Europe to Africa and back to Australia. Keeping Europe in the middle of the itinerary is also important as it allows you to use a return fare to Europe with stopovers in other continents. This means that Europe will be the destination and, for example, your stops in the USA and Asia will be free stopovers on the way to and from Europe. These fares are generally much better value than full alliance RTW airfares.
It is possible to use a mix of cabins on an around the world itinerary! It is usually best to change classes at the point of turnaround which will generally be Europe. This means that you can, for example, fly from Australia to the USA to Europe in Business Class and then from Europe to Asia to Australia in Economy or vice versa.
It depends on the exact itinerary. There are several fantastic airfare options for travelling around the world and they all have their pros and cons. The main deciding factor will usually be the destinations you wish to visit as these airfares all have some routing and destination options that aren’t permitted with the others. It also depends on your preferences with regards to airlines and frequent flyer programs. For example, if you are keen on amassing a giant pile of Qantas Frequent Flyer status credits, a Finnair itinerary can be an amazing choice. Or if you are a Krisflyer member, in love with the hospitality of Singapore Airlines, then a Lufthansa or SWISS option might be the better choice.
Usually the most cost effective, in terms of dollars per status credit, round the world airfare for earning Qantas Frequent Flyer status credits is going to be a Finnair fare. Finnair’s global fares that allow multi-continent trips around the world, it is possible to use Qantas or a full oneworld member on every leg of the journey. This also means that if you have existing status with Qantas Frequent Flyer, you can enjoy the perks at every airport and on every flight along the way!
Generally, the best airfares for round the world travel for earning with Star Alliance frequent flyer programs will be either with Lufthansa or SWISS. These airfares allow you to travel the entire way around the world flying with Star Alliance partners on every leg. As Star Alliance programs vary hugely in both their earning rates on each airline as well as their rules (especially with regards to earning on codeshares), please make sure you let your consultant know which program you’re planning on crediting your flights to if earning towards status with a Star Alliance partner is important to you.
If obtaining status with a frequent flyer program is important to you, there are several ways to maximise earning when planning a round the world trip. This can often mean making your flight path less direct, for example adding an unnecessary domestic connection on the way out of or back into Australia. Sometimes it just means choosing one carrier over another. At Airfare Geeks, we are experts at maximising frequent flyer earnings on round the world travel.
