10 Years of Airfare Geeks: A Decade of Smarter Travel

Ten years. 25,000+ travellers. More than 100 million miles flown. And countless memories created around the world.

This September marks a very special milestone for Airfare Geeks: our 10th anniversary.

Since Airfare Geeks began in September 2016, the world of travel has changed enormously. New airlines and routes have emerged, the way we plan and experience travel has evolved, and the industry faced challenges none of us could have imagined.

But one thing has remained the same: our passion for finding smarter ways to fly.

For the past decade, our team has specialised in doing what we do best – creating complex international airfares, Round-the-World adventures and Multi-City itineraries that help our customers see more of the world while getting exceptional value from their airfare.

And after ten years, we thought it was time to look back at just how far we’ve travelled together…

From 2016 to today

Airfare Geeks was founded in September 2016 with a simple idea: when it comes to complex airfares, expertise matters.

We knew there was more to booking international travel than simply searching for a flight from A to B. The right knowledge, experience and creativity could uncover smarter routes, better-value fares and itineraries that most travellers would never know existed.

Ten years later, that philosophy remains at the heart of everything we do.

A lot has changed since those early days. Our team has grown, the number of travellers we look after has increased, and the destinations and itineraries we create now stretch across almost every corner of the globe. The travel industry itself has transformed too, with new airlines, new routes and new ways to explore the world.

But one thing hasn’t changed: our approach remains personal.

We still believe the best airfare isn’t necessarily the first one that appears in a search engine – and that some of the best journeys require a little more imagination.

Sometimes that means combining airlines to find a better fare, adjusting the routing or flying into one city and home from another. A well-placed stopover can turn one holiday into two, while a mix of cabins lets you enjoy Business Class comfort on the flights where it matters most, without paying for it the whole way.

And sometimes, there’s simply a completely different way of getting there that most travellers would never think to search for.

That’s where the Geeks come in.

For the past 10 years, we’ve specialised in finding those possibilities – taking complicated travel plans and turning them into carefully designed itineraries that help our customers travel smarter, experience more and get better value from their airfare.

It’s what we set out to do in 2016, and it’s still what we love doing today.

Over the past 10 years, we’ve helped more than 25,000 travellers take to the skies – for holidays, honeymoons, family reunions, business trips and once-in-a-lifetime adventures around the world.

Some have travelled with us once, while others have returned year after year, trusting our Geeks to plan each new adventure.

For us, there’s no greater compliment.

✈️ 250,000+ flights

When your speciality is complex international travel, a single holiday can involve a lot more than two flights.

Our customers have travelled across an estimated 250,000 individual flight segments over the past decade – connecting cities, countries and continents along the way.

From Sydney to Singapore, London to New York, Istanbul to Cape Town and countless destinations in between, that’s a lot of boarding passes!

🌍 100 million miles+ travelled

Put all those journeys together and our customers have travelled an extraordinary distance.

We estimate that Airfare Geeks travellers have collectively flown more than 100 million miles over the past decade.

To put that into perspective, that’s equivalent to travelling around the Earth approximately 3,600 times – or making around 188 return journeys to the Moon.

Not bad for ten years.

But numbers only tell part of the story

For us, the past decade has never simply been about selling airline tickets.

It’s been about finding the itinerary someone didn’t know was possible.

It’s finding a clever stopover that turns one holiday into two. Combining airlines to create a better fare. Working out how to make a complicated Round-the-World journey actually work. Finding Business Class comfort without the eye-watering price tag.

And sometimes, it’s simply being there when travel doesn’t go according to plan.

Behind those 25,000+ travellers are thousands of individual stories – and we’re incredibly grateful to have played a small part in them.

Reaching our ten-year milestone is something we are incredibly proud of, but none of it would have been possible without our amazing Geeks.

Beginning with just a team of four in 2016 to now 18 travel experts in 2026, each member brings their own experience, expertise and passion to the business.

While our team has grown considerably over the past decade, the personal approach and genuine care we bring to every journey has remained the same.

From piecing together complex Multi-City itineraries and creating once-in-a-lifetime Round-the-World adventures, to stepping in when travel plans don’t quite go as expected, they work tirelessly to find the best possible solution for every customer.

We are incredibly proud of the team we have built over the past decade. Their expertise, hard work and commitment have played an enormous part in shaping Airfare Geeks into the business it is today.
