Finnair returns to Canadian skies: Touching down May 2026

Commencing May 2026, Finnair will offer nonstop flights to Toronto three times a week on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday throughout the northern summer season.

Including Toronto in Round-the-World Fares

With Finnair now flying to Toronto, Australian travellers have even more options for value-packed Round-the-World airfares.

Toronto’s addition to Finnair’s growing North American network opens the door to flying directly into and out of Canada – avoiding costly U.S. add-ons and allowing travellers to bypass the United States entirely if they prefer!

Currently, Finnair does not include internal North American sectors (e.g., Los Angeles to Toronto) in their tickets. This means any travel between Finnair’s U.S. or Canadian gateways (like Dallas, San Francisco, Vancouver, etc.) and Toronto must be booked separately.

For example, if you fly into Los Angeles or Dallas and want to depart from Toronto, the domestic segment/regional would need to be arranged as a separate add-on. The same applies in reverse – if you arrive in Toronto but plan to depart from another North American city back to Australia.

Despite this, Finnair’s “EH/AP” pseudo Round-the-World fares offer outstanding value compared to standard oneworld RTW fares.

Price Comparison Example:

A Finnair Business Class fare on a routing such as: Sydney – Dallas (DFW) – Toronto – Frankfurt – Singapore – Sydney starts from $10,654 AUD (including a Business Class add-on from Dallas to Toronto).

Compare that to a similar oneworld 26,000-mile RTW fare, which starts at over $13,500 AUD (including taxes).

The flight from Dallas to NYC takes approximately 3.5 hours, depending on the arrival airport, and is typically available at competitive fares in both Economy and Business Class.

Another option: fly into Dallas and out of Toronto – or the reverse. The flight time between the two is just under 4 hours, with multiple direct services daily.
