Pacific Lift-Off: New routes transform Australia–Americas travel

In what feels like a new golden era for trans-Pacific journeys, the aviation industry is witnessing unprecedented growth in US-Australia connectivity, meaning more competition, better fares, and greater flexibility when planning your next big adventure.

From December 2025, leading carriers Qantas, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines and United Airlines are rolling out new nonstop routes from major US hubs including Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Dallas–Fort Worth to key Australian cities.

Even better, this opens up an exciting new world of destinations for Aussie travellers beyond the US too!

Groundbreaking new routes

Here’s what’s new:

• American Airlines will launch nonstop flights from Los Angeles to Brisbane three times a week from December 5, 2025. This complements existing services and adds a premium option aboard their Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.
• Delta Air Lines is set to begin direct flights from Los Angeles to Melbourne in December 2025, opening more doors to Australia’s cultural capital.
• United Airlines breaks new ground with the first-ever direct US–Adelaide flight, connecting San Francisco to Adelaide from December 11, 2025.
• Qantas is going big—literally—upgrading all Dallas–Fort Worth to Sydney flights to the spacious Airbus A380 starting January 2026, adding significant capacity on this key route.
